Robert Silla
Robert Silla (Valencia 1982), principal oboe in the Spanish National Orchestra, professor at Musical Arts Madrid, music researcher, artistic director of il Maniatico Ensemble, artist of the Marigaux brand of oboes and artist of the IBS Classical label.
He won his first position as principal oboe in the Orquestra Simfónica do Porto-Casa da Música at the age of 22 and just one year later he would join the Spanish National Orchestra where he continues today.
He has been principal guest at the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala in Milan with Riccardo Chailly and Gävle Simfoniorkester with Jaime Martín. He has collaborated with orchestras such as Musicaeterna and Teodor Currentzis, Cadaqués Orchestra, Band-Art and Camerata Bern among others.
He is the extraordinary prize-winner of the oboe department of Dr. Vicente Llimerà and the Euterpe prize for the best academic career. He furthered his studies with Emanuel Abbühl at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Mannheim and with Maurice Bourgue.
He has a master’s degree in music research from the International University of Valencia. His work as a musical researcher is focused above all on Spanish music of the 18th century and specifically on the court of Madrid.
Robert Silla has recorded with his group, il Maniatico Ensemble, together with IBS Classical the entire collection of unpublished sextets by Cayetano Brunetti for oboe and strings, a jewel of the chamber music repertoire and part of the Spanish national heritage that until now was missing. This record has obtained critical recognition, receiving the «Exceptional» seal from Scherzo magazine, the «Golden Seal» from Melómano magazine, “5 Diapasones” from the prestigious French magazine Diapason and Anaclase first price.
